Job Description
The University of Nevada, Reno is recruiting for a Senior Accounting Assistant for the Cashier’s Office. The Senior Accounting Assistant will audit, collect, and post all tuition and fee payments from UNR students as well as NSHE departmental deposits. The position will specialize in one of the following processes:
- Nevada National Guard Waiver Specialist
- Chapter
33 Specialist - Graduate Assistant Specialist
Other duties include, but are not limited to:
- verifying and audit any accounting documents turned in for accuracy, completeness and compliance with NSHE and federal rules and regulations;
- posting accounting documents and/or payments to student and departmental accounts and providing receipts to customers;
- researching, analyzing, and interpreting data from the student information system;
- providing answers to any account questions;
- printing statements and analysis records for current and/or past students;
- conducting maintenance and daily balancing of cash drawer;
- answering inquiries by phone from students, employees, and the public;
- providing training and leadership to student workers and temporary hourly employees;
- and other duties as assigned.
This position requires three (3) or more years of applicable experience as described in the job duties and graduation from high school or equivalent education.
Preferred QualificationsCandidates with experience using Microsoft Excel and Word in a business setting are encouraged to apply.
ScheduleThe typical work schedule is Monday through Friday from 8:30 am to 5:30 pm; this is subject to change based on organizational needs.
CompensationGrade 27
In classified service, salary is in Grade and Step. The Step is determined based on the Nevada Administrative Code. Salary placement above a Step 01 at initial appointment is determined based on the recruitment, the candidate’s qualifications, internal equity and budgets.
