Job Description The Mackay School of Earth Sciences & Engineering is recruiting for a clerical assistant. As a clerical assistant in this office, you will be an integral part of the department’s administrative and clerical operations to support students, faculty, and staff. You will report to the Administrative Assistant 4 of MSESE. The major duties include answering the phone calls, greeting office guests, preparing and distributing mail and packages;
ordering and maintaining office supplies; maintaining financial records and files; preparing and processing purchasing card statements, processing travel requests and claims, and other duties as assigned.
Responsibilities Answer inquiries and phone calls daily
Greet office guests with in a strong and welcoming matter
Prepare and distribute mail and packages
Organize and maintain office supplies
Maintain financial records and files
Prepare and process purchasing card statements, travel requests and claims, and other duties assigned
Required Qualifications Candidate must be a reliable self-starter who can think on their feet and is not afraid to ask questions
Candidate must be enrolled at the University of Nevada, Reno in good standing
Candidate must possess communication and customer service skills
Candidate has ability to stay organized and manage multiple tasks
Reliability and professionalism when representing the department
Ability to work most weekday afternoons, with availability including 4:00-5:00pm time period
Preferred Qualifications Requesting at least a two-semester commitment from student worker/intern, with the desire to work over the summer.
Experience in clerical work, reception, or customer service
Familiarity with Microsoft Office and basic office equipment
Major in accounting or other business major is preferred, not required.
Schedule
15-20 hours/weekly
* Could be up to 20 hours per week during summer and winter breaks
Compensation Grade Student Employee Level 3 $ 15.00 hourly
