Position OverviewThe Procurement & Project Cost Control Manager plays a critical role in overseeing material purchasing and ensuring project cost accountability. This position serves as a central checks‑and‑balances function, supporting project execution while maintaining strict budget alignment, cost discipline, and consistency in purchasing practices across all active jobs.
Working closely with Project Managers, Accounting (AP/AR), and Operations leadership, this role directly contributes to margin protection and scalable company growth.
Key Responsibilities Procurement & Purchasing Leadership- Own and manage the purchasing process for materials, supplies, and job‑related expenses
- Act as the primary point of contact for project teams regarding material purchases and vendor sourcing
- Coordinate ordering, delivery schedules, and vendor communications
- Ensure consistent purchasing standards across all projects
- Track project‑level expenditures against approved budgets
- Support Project Managers in maintaining cost expectations and job profitability
- Prevent overspending, unapproved purchases, and budget drift
- Provide leadership with visibility into purchasing trends and cost risks
- Partner closely with Operations, Accounting (AP/AR), and front‑office teams
- Ensure purchase orders, invoices, and job costing are properly aligned
- Maintain clean documentation, approval workflows, and audit readiness
- Help improve internal systems for purchasing and cost tracking
- Build and maintain strong vendor relationships
- Support pricing negotiations and preferred vendor agreements
- Identify opportunities for cost savings and operational efficiencies
- Assist in implementing scalable procurement systems as the company grows
- Experience in construction procurement, purchasing, or job cost management
- Strong understanding of project budgets and cost control principles
- Ability to communicate clearly, confidently, and professionally with Project Managers
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail
- Comfortable operating in a checks‑and‑balances leadership role
- Experience with construction accounting or ERP systems is a plus
- Projects remain aligned with approved purchasing budgets
- Project teams receive materials efficiently without uncontrolled spending
- Purchasing workflows and approval processes are consistently followed
