• Bachelor's degree in a technical field or equivalent practical experience.
• 12 years of experience managing technical teams in charge of operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting electrical, mechanical, and controls infrastructure and components.
• 3 years of experience in developing and managing managers.

• Master's degree in a related engineering field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Experience collaborating with other business units to meet company goals and standards.
• Knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems in a data center environment.
• Excellent people management and leadership skills, with the ability to influence at all levels.

As the Area Lead, you will lead a large, geographically distributed team of electrical, cooling, and controls technicians, plant engineers, facility managers, and program managers who are responsible for the operational health and efficiency of Google’s Data Centers, the largest cloud computer in the world.

Key responsibilities include:

• Developing, nurturing, and guiding multiple operations teams across a geographic area.
• Setting and delivering strategies in a dynamic, rapidly changing environment.
• Leading the strategy and ongoing operation of Google’s growing portfolio of data centers within the area.
• Leading the large‑scale electrical and cooling infrastructure operations of the data center campuses within the area.
• Driving new greenfield site turn‑up within the area, including hiring, coaching, and team building.
• Overseeing the development of strategies to keep operational costs to a minimum, improve efficiency, and reduce environmental impact at a site.
• Incorporating domain expertise to deliver improved data center designs that optimize equipment and operations for next‑generation data centers.
• Managing performance, well‑being, and career development of the team, execution against Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), and use and maturation of existing tools and systems.

US salary range: $205,000 - $286,000 (USD) + 25% bonus target + equity + benefits.
