Position Overview

The Warehouse Manager oversees the receiving, storage and organization of project materials inventory for construction projects. This role ensures that materials received are complete, accurate to order, and free of defects or damage. It also includes day‑to‑day purchase of materials as needed by crews on a daily basis. The manager also oversees and tracks tooling used by crews and purchases or delivers tools as needed on a daily basis.

This management position typically has 2 or 3 entry level yard hands you’re responsible for overseeing and utilizing to support your tasks as a warehouse manager. The role is fast‑paced, with extended weekly hours and will be challenging.

Key Responsibilities
  • Establish organized layout of material for efficient stocking and issuing.
  • Oversee all material inspection and receiving, ensuring physical quantities on delivery trucks align with quantities listed on packing lists and BOLs.
  • Track inventory levels continuously, maintain optimal stock and ensure orders are received in their entirety.
  • Develop and adjust stock replenishment strategies based on project demands.
  • Ensure proper handling and storage of materials to prevent damage or loss.
  • Inspect incoming materials upon delivery, verifying compliance with quality criteria.
  • Collaborate with project teams to resolve any material quality issues.
  • Maintain detailed records of materials received.
  • Capture any damaged or missing materials when delivered and document for reconciliation or replacements.
  • Work with suppliers to address and prevent recurring quality concerns.
  • Coordinate the transportation and timely delivery of materials to job sites, optimizing logistics flow.
  • Monitor and adjust delivery schedules to align with project timelines.
  • Ensure that materials are stored safely and securely on‑site, supporting easy access.
  • Identify and implement process improvements in logistics to streamline distribution.
  • Ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations in handling and storage.
  • Maintain accurate documentation related to procurement, inventory, and usage.
  • Provide timely updates to management on material status.
  • Implement best practices in procurement and usage to enhance efficiency and cost control.
  • Oversee scheduling and planning for tool usage.
  • Monitor work progress on tooling orders and projects.
  • Ensure availability of tools for all planned jobs.
  • Address operational challenges related to tooling.
  • Monitor expenses related to tool procurement and maintenance.
  • Identify opportunities for cost savings and efficiency improvements.
  • Report on budget performance to senior management.
  • Evaluate current processes, recommend enhancements.
  • Lead initiatives to improve tooling efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Conduct regular reviews of tooling strategies and outcomes.
  • Encourage a culture of safety and continuous learning.
  • Ensure all tooling operations adhere to safety standards.
  • Conduct regular audits to verify compliance.
  • Address non‑compliance issues promptly.
  • Maintain documentation related to tooling regulations.
Qualifications
  • Education:

    High School Diploma.
  • Self‑motivator who is eager to learn.
  • Proven experience in materials or tool management, preferably within the electrical construction industry.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Proficient in inventory management and Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a focus on collaboration.
  • Forklift certification or experience preferred.
  • Class A CDL preferred.
  • Must successfully pass mandatory drug and alcohol screening, criminal background check, and MVR.
