Superintendent

The Superintendent is responsible for managing and coordinating all on-site construction activities for projects ranging from $15M to $40M, with a strong emphasis on sports, entertainment, and event facility construction. This role ensures the project is built safely, on schedule, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. The Sports & Entertainment Superintendent reports directly to the Senior Superintendent with oversight from the General Superintendent and serves as the primary leader for day-to-day field operations.

Primary duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Direct, coordinate, and supervise all on-site field construction operations including work sequencing, manpower coordination, and field problem-solving.
  • Maintain and execute the 3-week look-ahead schedule, ensuring alignment with overall project milestones.
  • Manage site logistics, including deliveries, laydown, hoisting, parking, temporary utilities, and access control.
  • Ensure all work is performed in accordance with project drawings, specifications, and owner requirements.
  • Promote and enforce a zero-incident safety culture by conducting toolbox talks, safety walks, and daily pre-task planning with subcontractors.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA requirements, site-specific safety plans, and trade contractor safety programs.
  • Implement and monitor the project quality plan, including inspections, mockups, testing, and punch list management.
  • Coordinate work related to specialized systems typical of sports or event venues (AV, life safety, broadcast, rigging, MEP integration, acoustics, etc.) ensuring proper installation, verification, and documentation.
  • Lead daily and weekly subcontractor coordination meetings.
  • Collaborate with the design team, owner's representatives, inspectors, and stakeholders.
  • Support the project team on RFIs, submittals, and change directives as they affect field work.
  • Maintain accurate daily reports, manpower logs, and field documentation.
  • Track progress and adjust sequencing to maintain critical path and key milestone dates.
  • Identify schedule risks and contribute to recovery strategies when necessary.
  • Work with the project controls team to maintain accurate schedule updates.
  • Manage project turnover activities including punch list, start-up, testing, commissioning, and final inspections.
  • Ensure accurate as-builts, O&M documentation, and system training for operations.
  • Lead field activities through substantial completion, occupancy, and final acceptance.
  • Other duties as assigned, within the scope of this position.

Strong understanding of MEP systems, specialty event infrastructure, trade coordination, quality planning, inspection management, and complex building coordination in a fast-track environment. Proficiency in construction management platforms (Procore, Bluebeam, Plan Grid, MS Project/P6). Ability of complex reading, writing, math, and task completion skills is required. Must have the following skills: coordination, effective communication (both written and verbal), analyzing, supervising diverse teams on a fast-paced site, instructing, situational awareness, driving, precision working, following instructions, influencing others, memorization, proactive problem solving, conflict resolution, independent judgment, safety-first mindset, and schedule-driven decision making.

Strong documentation discipline to execute daily reports, photos, time/quantity logs, as-builts, test results, & permits. This is a full-time, onsite field position where extended hours may be required including early mornings, nights, and weekends based on project schedule. Must be a minimum of 21 years of age.

7–12 years' experience in commercial construction with at least 5 years as a Superintendent required. Successful completion of at least one project between $15M–$40M required. Experience with sports, entertainment, event venues, arenas, or high-occupancy public facilities required. Experience coordinating AV/broadcast systems, or other venue-related specialties preferred.
