Position Summary

The Superintendent is responsible for overseeing and managing daily jobsite operations to ensure construction projects are completed safely, on time, within budget, and according to plans, specifications, and quality standards. This role provides strong field leadership, directs subcontractor activities, enforces site safety and compliance, coordinates scheduling and logistics, and ensures consistent communication among project stakeholders.

The Superintendent serves as the primary on‑site leader throughout all phases of construction and plays a critical role in delivering successful projects while upholding the company’s core safety culture, values, and performance expectations.

Key Responsibilities Project Planning & Coordination
  • Participate in project setup, mobilization, and site logistics planning.
  • Work closely with the Project Manager to develop and maintain the project schedule.
  • Coordinate with Assistant Superintendents, subcontractors, owners, architects, and suppliers to support workflow.
  • Plan equipment, material needs, and long‑lead item procurement in alignment with project requirements.
Field Leadership & Supervision
  • Maintain full care, custody, and control of the jobsite in alignment with company safety culture and standards.
  • Oversee daily field operations and all subcontractor productivity, quality, and performance.
  • Ensure work is completed according to project plans, specifications, and jurisdictional requirements.
  • Provide leadership, coaching, and direction to field staff and assigned Assistant Superintendents.
Jobsite Operations
  • Conduct daily jobsite walkthroughs, coordination meetings, and safety inspections.
  • Manage subcontractor sequencing, workforce efficiency, and site logistics.
  • Proactively identify, analyze, and resolve field issues or conflicts affecting schedule, cost, or quality.
  • Maintain accurate daily reports, safety logs, manpower tracking, and progress documentation.
  • Lead punch list development, inspections, and close‑out activities.
Safety & Compliance
  • Enforce all OSHA, federal/state regulations, and company safety policies.
  • Ensure proper implementation of hazard controls, site cleanliness, and jobsite safety standards.
  • Correct unsafe behaviors and conditions promptly.
  • Lead emergency response, incident documentation, and corrective action processes when required.
Communication & Collaboration
  • Serve as the primary on‑site point of contact for project stakeholders.
  • Facilitate subcontractor coordination meetings and workflow updates.
  • Maintain strong communication with the Project Manager regarding progress, risks, and schedule impacts.
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with subcontractors, inspectors, owners, and design teams.
Qualifications Qualifications, Education & Experience
  • Strong understanding of construction means, methods, sequencing, and building systems.
  • Ability to interpret plans, specifications, submittals, and schedules.
  • Proficient in jobsite documentation and field management software (Procore, Bluebeam, MS Project, etc.).
  • Familiarity with QA/QC procedures and inspection processes.
  • Strong communication, coordination, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven ability to supervise, motivate, and mentor field teams.
  • Excellent decision‑making, problem‑solving, and critical‑thinking abilities.
  • High degree of professionalism, organization, and time management.
  • Ability to adapt to changing jobsite conditions and maintain composure under pressure.
Education & Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred; equivalent field experience accepted.
  • Minimum 5–10 years of construction field experience, with 3+ years supervising field operations.
  • Experience in commercial or multifamily construction required.
  • OSHA 30 certification preferred (or ability to obtain).
