Position Summary

The Senior Superintendent works collaboratively with the Project Manager and reports directly to the General Superintendent. This role is responsible for supervising and coordinating all on‑site construction activities to ensure projects are completed safely, within specifications, on schedule, and within budget. The Senior Superintendent is also responsible for maintaining control of the jobsite in alignment with the company’s core safety culture.

When assigned, the Senior Superintendent assists, trains, and mentors Assistant Superintendents, supporting their development and ensuring consistent field leadership standards across projects.

Key Responsibilities Project Planning and Coordination
  • Supervises and participates in the planning and setup of assigned projects.
  • Works with Project Managers and Assistant Project Managers to develop and maintain the project schedule.
  • Communicates regularly with Assistant Project Managers, Project Managers, inspectors, subcontractors, owners/architects, and suppliers to coordinate workflow, facilitate communication, and resolve construction challenges.
  • Oversees the purchasing and planning of equipment, materials, and long‑lead items.
Field Leadership & Supervision
  • Maintains full care, custody, and control of the jobsite in alignment with the company’s Safety Culture.
  • Supervises activities of all field workers and subcontractors to ensure quality, productivity, and adherence to project plans and specifications.
  • Ensures daily site operations align with all applicable safety standards, company policies, building codes, and regulatory requirements (OSHA, state/federal regulations, nondiscrimination/harassment policies, etc.).
  • Provides coaching, direction, and mentorship to Assistant Superintendents when assigned.
Jobsite Operations
  • Proactively identifies and resolves jobsite issues, conflicts, or changes impacting scope, schedule, or quality.
  • Conducts regular site meetings, inspections, and coordination sessions.
  • Maintains accurate documentation, including daily reports, safety logs, and progress tracking.
  • Performs close‑out duties, ensuring punch lists, inspections, and turnover requirements are completed effectively.
  • Performs general administrative and supervisory duties related to jobsite operations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned to support overall project success.
Qualifications, Education & Experience Qualifications
  • Strong knowledge of the construction industry, including all phases of commercial and multi‑family construction.
  • Proven leadership skills with the ability to supervise, motivate, and mentor field staff and subcontractors.
  • Excellent communication, problem‑solving, and decision‑making abilities.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and enforce construction plans, specifications, and schedules.
  • Strong organizational skills and proficiency in managing multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Commitment to safety, quality, and regulatory compliance.
Education & Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction, Engineering, or a related field OR equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in the construction industry, including significant experience supervising field operations on commercial and/or multi‑family construction projects.
