This position involves working closely with the asphalt paving crew to ensure a smooth and even surface is achieved. The primary responsibility of an Asphalt Raker is to distribute and level asphalt materials using a rake, shovel, and other hand tools.
This role requires physical strength, attention to detail, and the ability to work in various weather conditions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Material Distribution:
Distribute hot or cold asphalt materials evenly across surfaces using a rake or shovel. - Surface Leveling:
Ensure that the asphalt surface is smooth and level by raking and spreading materials appropriately. - Team
Collaboration:
Work closely with the asphalt paving crew, equipment operators, and other team members to achieve project goals. - Quality Control:
Monitor the quality of the asphalt application, making adjustments as needed to achieve the desired thickness and compaction. - Safety Compliance:
Adhere to all safety regulations and guidelines to create a safe working environment for yourself and your team. - Tool Maintenance:
Keep tools and equipment in good working condition; report any malfunctions or damage promptly. - Communication:
Maintain effective communication with the paving crew to ensure a coordinated and efficient workflow. - Problem Solving:
Identify and address issues that may arise during the paving process, such as uneven distribution or compaction. - Physical Labor:
Perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting, carrying, and bending, in various weather conditions. - Clean-Up:
Assist in the cleaning and maintenance of the work area after completion of the paving project.
Requirements:
- Physical Fitness:
Ability to perform strenuous physical tasks for extended periods in various weather conditions. - Experience:
Previous experience in asphalt paving or a similar construction role is advantageous. - Attention to Detail: A keen eye for detail to ensure a high-quality finished product.

Must have a valid Oregon State driving license and clean driving record.
Must have a flexible schedule.
