Staff Writer – Brushfire Literature & Arts Journal (Student‑run organization)
Role OverviewThe Brushfire Literature & Arts Journal is a student‑run organization that publishes two journals per semester. As a Staff Writer, you will chronologize the publication, maintain the blog, produce bi‑monthly artist spotlights, and collaborate with University Archives to digitize past editions.
Responsibilities- Revitalize and maintain the Brushfire blog, including writing a weekly newsletter summarizing activities and events.
- Write bi‑monthly artist spotlights by reaching out to, interviewing, and profiling artists/writers.
- Collaborate with University Archives to digitize past Brushfire editions (no technical experience required).
- Attend weekly meetings to discuss progress, announcements, and challenges.
- Current enrolled student at the University of Nevada, Reno.
- Maintain a minimum 2.0 GPA.
- Effective written and oral communication skills.
- Comfortable conducting interviews and meeting new people.
- Experience and/or knowledge in the field of art or related arts.
- Strong understanding of the mechanics of the English language.
- Hourly rate: $12.00 per hour.
- Student Employee Level: 1.
- Expected hours per week: 10–13.
- Schedule may be subject to change based on organizational needs.
