Job Description
The University of Nevada, Reno Extension seeks a full‑time Administrative Faculty member to serve as the Community Wildfire Preparedness Coordinator within the Living With Fire Program. The Coordinator will work directly with federal agencies and community partners to develop, review, and implement Community Wildfire Protection Plans (CWPPs) throughout Nevada.
Key Responsibilities- Coordinate the development, review, and implementation of CWPPs in Nevada communities.
- Collaborate with federal agencies, local governments, and community partners.
- Provide technical assistance in spatial data analysis and wildfire risk assessment.
- Facilitate meetings, workshops, and public outreach activities on wildfire preparedness.
- Prepare reports, edit program documentation, and communicate findings via radio, television, and written media.
- Bachelor’s degree and two (2) years of related work experience, OR Master’s degree and one (1) year of related work experience.
- Experience in Natural Resources, Ecology, Environmental Science, Computer Science, Social Sciences, project coordination, or a closely related field.
- Completion of fingerprinting/background check.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including editing and public speaking in person, on radio, and via television.
- Experience in spatial data analysis, meeting facilitation, interpersonal communications, public relations, and organizational and administrative skills.
A valid Class "C" driver’s license or higher operator’s license within 30 days of appointment.
Schedule and TravelVariable work schedule with regular travel to community and stakeholder events across Nevada.
CompensationAdministrative Faculty –
B. Salary range: $57,000–$74,000, based on related education, experience, internal equity, and budget availability.
