The Dental Front Office Representative/Dental Sterilization Technician is responsible for managing the front desk functions of the dental clinic, supporting provider staff to ensure efficient daily operations. This role also provides dental instrument sterilization services, manages tray setups, and collaborates with the Dental Supervisor on administrative operations, billing, purchasing, customer service, and quality management.
RequirementsKnowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- In-depth knowledge of dental office administrative practices and sterilization procedures.
- Familiarity with ADA, CDT, and ICD-10-CM coding, dental insurance protocols, and OSHA compliance.
- Skilled in using electronic medical records (EMRs) and communication software (e.g., eClinicalWorks).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, email, and common office equipment.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize multiple tasks, and meet deadlines.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; fluency in Spanish is preferred.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and professional decorum in a fast-paced clinic.
- Understanding of HIPAA regulations and commitment to patient privacy.
- Knowledge of dental instruments, tray setups, and sterile field creation.
- Ability to read, write, and calculate figures accurately.
Experience and Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a dental or medical front/back office.
- Formal training in dental sterilization protocols and front office procedures preferred.
- OSHA training (current or ability to obtain upon hire).
- Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred, but not required.
- Valid Driver’s License and reliable transportation required for travel between clinics.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be available to work varying shifts, including coverage at other clinics.
- Adherence to professional dress code and grooming standards.
- Timely completion of timesheets and leave requests per CHA policies.
- Responsible use of communication systems and technology tools.
- Participation in community events representing CHA when assigned.
- Ability to lift up to 20 pounds frequently.
- Must be able to stand for extended periods (up to 2–3 hours).
- Frequent repetitive motion involving hands and wrists.
- Ability to hear and speak clearly for telephone and in-person communication.
- Vision required for computer use and instrument inspection.
- Work in confined or isolated areas during sterilization processes.
- Ability to travel distances for extended periods (multi-day assignments when applicable).
