The Dentist is responsible for providing high-quality, comprehensive general dental care to patients of all ages within a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) setting. This role involves diagnosing and treating a broad range of oral health issues, performing preventive and restorative procedures, managing urgent care cases, and providing supervision to dental support staff and students. The Dentist plays a vital role in advancing patient education, clinical excellence, and compliance with quality and regulatory standards.

• Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, develop diagnoses, and implement treatment plans for diverse oral health conditions.
• Deliver preventive, restorative, and emergency dental services, including quadrant dentistry and minor surgical interventions.
• Prescribe appropriate medications, interpret diagnostic tests, and provide timely treatment referrals.
• Educate patients on oral hygiene practices, nutrition, and disease prevention to support long-term oral health.
• Coordinate specialty care referrals when clinically indicated.
• Maintain accurate, detailed, and timely documentation in the electronic health record (EHR).
• Ensure compliance with appropriate CDT, ICD-10, and other billing codes in accordance with CHA and payer guidelines.
• Monitor and follow up on lab results, abnormal findings, and missed patient appointments to ensure continuity of care.
• Adhere strictly to HIPAA, OSHA, and CHA clinical protocols, infection control policies, and safety regulations.
• Participate actively in quality assurance processes including peer chart reviews, audits, and quality improvement initiatives.
• Ensure operatory readiness and equipment maintenance meets all safety and compliance standards.
• Provide clinical direction and mentorship to dental assistants, students, and mid-level providers.
• Evaluate competencies and support professional development for support staff.
• Precept dental students during rotations, ensuring safety and adherence to educational objectives.
• Collaborate effectively with colleagues in interdisciplinary team meetings, case discussions, and improvement projects.
• Represent CHA in outreach activities, educational programs, and community health events.
• Foster a clean, safe, and professional work environment that reflects CHA’s core values and mission.

• DDS or DMD degree from a U.S. accredited dental school.
• Active, unrestricted license to practice dentistry in the State of Nevada.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS)/CPR certification.
• Valid Nevada Controlled Substance License and DEA registration.

• Experience in a community health center or FQHC setting.
• Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish strongly preferred.
• Experience with electronic dental or medical records systems (EHR/EDR).

• Manual dexterity sufficient for precise dental instrumentation and procedures.
• Frequent bending, reaching, and stooping associated with chairside care.
• Visual acuity required to perform detailed clinical assessments, procedures, and operate dental imaging systems.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 20 pounds occasionally (e.g., dental supplies, equipment).
• Clear verbal communication skills for patient interaction, education, and team collaboration.

• Work is performed in a well-lit clinical setting with exposure to dental materials, biohazards, and bodily fluids.
• Routine use of personal protective equipment (PPE), including masks, gloves, eyewear, and gowns.
• Adherence to strict infection control protocols and safety standards is mandatory.
• May require occasional travel between clinic sites or attendance at off-site meetings and outreach events.
