Overview

Nursing Program Director seeks to plan, develop, manage, update, and evaluate all aspects of the nursing program, including but not limited to budgeting, faculty and staff coordination, curriculum development, program compliance with Board rules and regulations, site visits, student advocacy, and development of program policies and procedures.

Responsibilities
  • Manage budgets for the Nursing program and coordinate related financial responsibilities.
  • Serve as faculty and staff clinical site liaison and oversee curriculum development and implementation.
  • Ensure program compliance with Board rules and regulations; conduct site visits as required.
  • Advocate for students and maintain faculty and student handbooks; establish and maintain policies and procedures.
  • Procure supplies and equipment to meet program objectives.
  • Prepare data and written materials for required state and Board requirements, including reports, proposals, self-studies, surveys, and site visits.
  • Maintain student and faculty records on site across all phases of student academic status and coordinate with Human Resources to ensure proper documentation of qualifications.
  • Identify and obtain outside resources for the nursing program.
  • Develop and implement program policies and procedures and organize program committees.
  • Oversee the admission process and orientation.
  • Write articulation agreements with nearby colleges detailing accepted course equivalents for transferring into Eagle Gate, Provo, and the College nursing programs.
  • Act as a liaison between the community and the college.
  • Accept other duties as indicated to ensure consistency and meet the needs of students and programs.
  • Develop and ensure educational partnerships and contracts with clinical sites are initiated and maintained.
  • Perform and/or delegate a clinical site evaluation that assesses whether the agency can provide clinical experiences meeting objectives, including risk, hazards, safety, and adequate staffing.
  • Meet with clinical faculty or agency representatives to confirm numbers of students and faculty, assignments, dates, times, clinical rotations, and objectives.
  • Complete and forward BRN clinical approval forms as required prior to initiating clinical rotations.
  • Ensure evaluations by students, clinical site representatives, and faculty at the end of each clinical rotation, and provide summary reports to the Dean and Chief Academic Officer and share with the Advisory Committee.
  • Maintain minutes of inter-agency meetings.
  • Participate in nursing faculty recruitment, hiring, and orientation.
  • Ensure nursing faculty meetings occur regularly and maintain adequate records and minutes.
  • Participate in conflict resolution for faculty and students.
  • Initiate and maintain community relationships; advocate for and market the programs.
  • Monitor quality of instruction and participate in faculty and program review, evaluation, and strategic planning.
  • Maintain membership and participate in activities of professional associations.
  • Interact with other college entities as a representative of nursing interests, such as counseling, registration, and financial aid.
  • Provide support and degree planning assistance to potential students.
  • Orient nursing students to nursing skills labs and clinical facilities prior to initiating clinical rotations.
  • Manage student appeals and grievances per policy.
  • Participate in planning and review of recruitment and admission of qualified nursing students.
  • Advise and provide academic support to nursing students as indicated.
  • Ensure all students complete necessary documentation and meet requirements for graduation and licensing exams.
  • Conduct Nursing Advisory Committee meetings.
  • Report on student performance in the program, NCLEX licensing, and job placement rates.
  • Perform other duties as assigned and comply with all policies and standards.
Qualifications
  • Master's Degree or higher from an accredited college or university, including coursework in Nursing and Education Administration.
  • Two years of experience in an administrative position.
  • Two years of teaching experience in pre- or post-licensure nursing programs.
  • Two years of experience as a registered nurse providing direct patient care and/or equivalent experience as determined by the Board.
  • Current RN license in the state where the campus is located.
  • Experience in supervision, planning, budget preparation and maintenance.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and excellent oral and written communication.
  • Commitment to diversity as defined by state law.
  • Ability to work effectively with a wide variety of people and institutions; leadership style emphasizing collaboration, teamwork, and facilitation.
  • Ability to utilize computer-based resources and demonstrated ability to build consensus.
  • Physical requirements:

    standing/walking for extended periods, ability to sit for extended periods, ability to lift/carry up to 20 pounds, push/pull objects, and reach overhead or at or below shoulder level.
