Position: Nursing Instructor, Tenure Track (Multiple Openings)

Description

Truckee Meadows Community College (TMCC), located in Reno, Nevada, is seeking applicants for three full‑time, tenure‑track Nursing Instructor positions.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in Nursing or related field from a regionally accredited institution.
  • Five years of recent acute clinical care experience.
  • Current unencumbered Nursing License in Nevada or another state, and ability to obtain a Nevada License upon hire.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Terminal nursing degree from a regionally accredited institution.
  • Certification in a specialty area of nursing.
  • Experience in higher education including teaching, simulation instruction, accreditation, program review or assessment.
Academic Faculty Responsibilities
  • Teach 30 credit or contact hours per academic year, August through May, in various modalities including in‑person, hybrid, online, live‑virtual, and at high‑school sites.
  • Support student learning outcome assessment by teaching toward approved outcomes and assessing performance.
  • Assist with curriculum and program review, revision, and assessment; aid in developing new course materials and instructional techniques.
  • Work closely with department peers and administrators as an effective teacher and contributing academic unit member.
  • Attend and participate in college events, department and division meetings, committees, and community service activities.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development to stay current in field knowledge and pedagogies.
  • Complete training outlined in TMCC's Faculty Standards of Online Instruction as needed.
  • Hold five office hours per week.
  • Participate in student advising, recruitment, and retention efforts.
  • Travel occasionally to community and workforce sites, conferences, and events as needed.
  • Communicate professionally with faculty, students, staff, and administration in the college’s best interests.
  • Comply with departmental administrative responsibilities and published college and NSHE policies and procedures.
  • Uphold TMCC’s mission, vision, and values in all duties.
  • Adhere to the published NSHE code of conduct and the Nevada State Ethical Standards.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Program Responsibilities
  • Instruct students in nursing theory and practice, assessing performance in courses.
  • Assist with nursing curriculum review and develop new instructional concepts.
  • Apply teaching techniques effective in laboratory/clinical settings using state‑of‑the‑art delivery systems.
  • Prepare lesson plans, syllabi, exam questions, and teaching aids; arrange instructional materials for class and homework.
  • Attend and participate in faculty development, department, division, and community meetings; advise, recruit, and retain students.
  • Teach or supplement courses via distance education platforms and complete necessary training.
  • Assist the program director in mentoring part‑time faculty.
  • Teach or conduct courses and clinicals during days, evenings, or weekends as needed.
  • Maintain regular office hours in a shared or private office.
  • Comply with nursing program policies and procedures.
  • Act as a partner in an educational enterprise serving student interests.
  • Perform duties consistent with TMCC’s standards, mission, and goals.
  • Function independently as part of a team.
  • Perform other program duties as assigned.
  • Salary and Benefits Information

    Salary: Initial salary placement depends on education level and experience. This 9‑month role totals 172 working days per year. Salaries based on a 12‑month schedule:
    Master's: $80,000–$96,000;
    Master's + 30: $84,000–$101,400;
    PhD: $89,000–$106,800.
