summary description
under general supervision of the school site principal, the family and community engagement (face) liaison will provide services to increase family engagement/involvement in the education of their children; support staff in their work with children and families; develop, coordinate and implement various programs and activities related to the needs of the children and families; support and meet program goals and objectives in the areas of parent and family engagement/involvement and education.
Incumbent performs related work as required.
assists school-site and district office personnel in planning and implementing parent and family engagement programs; acts as liaison between the school, home and community to promote education support programs and provide an on-going channel of communication for participants, parents and families and the community; assists in developing and conducting parent and family education workshops, staff in-service training, and promotional presentations; recruits parent volunteers for parent education activities;
may conduct home visits relative to parent and family engagement/involvement; may participate in various advisory group meetings and committees; and solicits the participation of the local business community in identifying and developing programs.
- collaborates with various internal and external stakeholders to complete family engagement projects and initiatives.
- communicates with site administrators to garner approval for initiatives and events.
- elicits the support of teachers and other school staff around family engagement.
any combination of education and experience that could likely provide the required knowledge and skills is qualifying. A typical way to obtain knowledge and skills would be:
education: high school diploma or equivalent; some college experience is desirable.
experience: two years' experience with students or parents in school or community agencies.
licenses/certificates: none required.
