The University of Nevada, Reno (UNR) is hiring Writing and Speaking Undergraduate Consultants. University Writing & Speaking consultants work with individual students and small groups on writing and presentation related projects.
Responsibilities- Facilitate online and in‑person consultations in a timely manner and follow UWSC protocols.
- Complete several online training modules.
- Attend regularly scheduled Friday afternoon workshops throughout the semester and complete training prior to each semester start.
- Complete all workshops each semester.
- Must be enrolled at the University of Nevada, Reno.
- Successfully completed ENG
102 (or equivalent) and at least one core humanities course (or transfer equivalents) with a B or better. - Minimum 2.5+ GPA.
- Strong writing, reading, and speaking skills within their discipline.
- Effective interpersonal communication skills and basic computer familiarity.
- Ability to work with students from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds.
- Growth mindset.
- Candidates pursuing degrees in Engineering, Biology, Business, Economics, Anthropology, Geology, Community Health Sciences, and Nursing are encouraged to apply.
- Completion of ENG
408B or prior experience in an academic support center or other tutoring experience is preferred. - GPA of 3.0+ is preferred.
Expected hours: 8–15 per week. Compensation:
Student Employee Level2, $17.50/hr, exempt, 37.5% FTE.
