Job Description
The School of Social Work at the University of Nevada, Reno invites applications for three (3) Lecturer II / Teaching Assistant Professors (non-tenure track) with an anticipated start date of July 1, 2026. These positions are grant-funded and operate on year-to-year contracts contingent upon continued funding. This position will consider candidates fully remote in addition to those fully on-site in Reno.
These lecturer roles will specialize in Behavioral Health and Wellness Practice and support the development and implementation of a new academic initiative aligned with Nevada SB165. The selected candidates will play a central role in launching a Behavioral Health Wellness Practitioner pathway within the Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) program, with a focus on expanding the behavioral health workforce through innovative, practice-oriented training.
This position requires a need for professionals with experience in child and adolescent behavioral health and working with families. Candidates should have skills in providing evidence-based behavioral health prevention and promotion support.
Lecturers will contribute to curriculum design and development for a BSW specialization track and assist in building a graduate-level micro-credential for Master of Social Work (MSW) students. This includes developing coursework, aligning competencies with workforce needs, and supporting program implementation.
In addition, the position includes teaching undergraduate and graduate Social Work courses across program modalities (in-person and online). The standard teaching load is eight (8) courses per academic year (4 Fall / 4 Spring), unless otherwise assigned, along with service contributions to the School and University.

Required Qualifications
Lecturer II - Master of Social Work (MSW) from a CSWE Accredited Institution and 2 years of post-MSW experience
Teaching Assistant Professor - PhD in Social Work or related field from a CSWE Accredited Institution and 2 years of post-MSW experience
Demonstrated experience in child and adolescent behavioral health, community mental health, or related practice areas
Familiarity of Nevada behavioral health workforce initiatives

Experience in curriculum development and/or program design in higher education or workforce training environments.
Strong commitment to student success, equity, and community impact.
Licensed or credentialed behavioral health professional
Experience teaching in higher education
Familiarity with competency-based education

Established connections with behavioral health providers or systems in Nevada or the region
