summary description
join our team to support teaching staff in various instructional activities and supervise students both in school and on field trips. This role involves a mix of clerical support and student behavior management.
exemplary duties/responsibilities
- assist teaching staff with classroom activities.
- type tests, correspondence, and reports.
- correct student papers and homework.
- distribute and collect classroom materials.
- prepare classroom and audio-visual equipment.
- order supplies and equipment.
- maintain student and attendance records.
- manage classroom bulletin boards.
- count school lunch money.
- supervise students during tests and observe their progress.
- ensure safety and discipline by supervising students in various settings (playgrounds, lunchrooms, school halls, library, study halls, and during bus loading/unloading).
- verify hall passes and enforce school rules.
- operate common office machines and perform clerical duties as needed.
- develop rapport with students and provide leadership.
- be a role model of good sportsmanship.
- apply discipline fairly and positively.
- assist after-school programming staff.
- collect classroom materials and prepare equipment.
- maintain student and attendance records.
- supervise students in various activities and settings.
- ensure all students are accounted for and authorized to leave campus.
- operate common office machines and perform clerical duties as needed.
education/experience:
- a high school diploma is desirable.
- a minimum of six (6) months of experience working with school-age youth is desirable for enrichment aide duties.
- educational principles and techniques.

- basic discipline and behavior modification techniques.
- correct english usage, spelling, grammar, and punctuation.
- basic mathematics.
- current office methods and procedures, including filing and records management.
- common office equipment and its usage.
- securing and maintaining the confidence and cooperation of students.
- dealing tactfully with students, parents, and school personnel.
- evaluating situations accurately and taking effective action.
- teaching good sportsmanship.
- typing with speed and accuracy.
- spelling correctly.
- reading, writing, and speaking english at a level required for successful job performance.
- preparing and maintaining accurate and complete records, files, and summaries.
- organizing and distributing instructional materials.
- making mathematical computations.
- operating various office equipment.
- operating and maintaining audio-visual equipment.
- understanding and carrying out oral and written instructions.
- establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
- providing leadership and developing rapport with students when assigned to enrichment aide duties.
- work is performed in a classroom, office, and outdoor environments.
- exposure to moderate noise levels.
- interaction with students, parents, and school staff.
- may involve exposure to various weather conditions during outdoor supervision.
- frequent standing, walking, and sitting.
- occasional bending, kneeling, and reaching.
- ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds.
- visual and auditory ability to respond to critical incidents and act swiftly in emergency situations.
- manual dexterity to operate office equipment and handle classroom materials.
