Summary Description

Under general supervision of the Principal and/or Athletic Director, the coach is responsible for coaching or advising students of Washoe County School District in a specified athletic or non‑athletic Extended Day Duty Activity, requiring sound and acceptable coaching practices. The coach adheres to a highly efficient injury‑prevention and safety programme and performs related work as required.

• Develop rapport with students and provide sound leadership; serve as an example of good sportsmanship and fair discipline.
• Ensure health and welfare of students and supervise their conduct.
• Maintain cooperation with Principal and/or Athletic Director, communicating about the overall program including trips and games.
• Develop a system for accountability, upkeep and protection of equipment.
• Promote positive public relations in the school and community.
• Attend contests and practice sessions.
• Complete reports evaluating the activity and recommend improvements.

• Any combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge and skills.
• Preferred: a high school diploma and current contract with Washoe County School District.
• Experience as a coach or advisor in the specific activity.
• Knowledge of rules, theory, and regulations related to the activity.
• Skill in providing leadership, organizing practices and contests, communicating effectively, supervising students, and teaching sportsmanship.
• Valid Nevada Teaching Certificate desirable.
• Required:
  
  CPR certification.
• Willingness to work weekends and various times of day.

Non‑contracted position with stipend according to the Extended Day Duty Scale negotiated with the Washoe County Teachers Association.
