Criminal Justice Part‑Time Faculty – Truckee Meadows Community College, Reno, NV.
Job DescriptionTMCC is recruiting part‑time faculty to teach criminal justice and policing courses for the Department of Criminal Justice. Candidates will be invited when vacancies arise and may teach in‑person, online, or hybrid courses. Part‑time faculty play an essential role in our operations, positively influencing students’ academic journeys.
Responsibilities- Teach course content under the supervision of the Department Chair
- Assess student learning and maintain accurate records
- Stay current in the field of criminal justice education
- Refer students to appropriate college resources
- Complete professional development activities
- Use current technology to enhance instruction
- Maintain ethical standards and professional conduct
Examples of courses that may be taught include:
- CRJ 104 – Administration of Justice
- CRJ 211 – Police in America
- CRJ 222 – Criminal Law and Procedure
Part‑time faculty are paid $1,050 per credit for 100‑ and 200‑level courses, and $1,150 per credit for 300‑ and 400‑level courses.
Minimum Qualifications- Master’s Degree in Criminal Justice, a closely related field, or a Juris Doctor; alternatively a Bachelor’s Degree with extensive experience in criminal justice or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Desire to work with students from diverse backgrounds
Part‑time faculty may attend paid orientation, receive paid professional development training, receive tuition reimbursement through Grant‑in‑Aid, and receive longevity payments based on years of service. Health benefits are available to those who meet specific workload requirements.
Conditions of EmploymentThese are temporary, non‑tenure‑track assignments that are part‑time only and will not continue beyond the assignment end date. Assignments may be terminated angements are not eligible for consideration for tenure.
