Position
Teaching Assistant Professor (Lecturer II) non-tenure track – begins January 1, 2026 – Department of Agriculture, Veterinary and Rangeland Sciences, University of Nevada, Reno.
Lecturer StatementThe University of Nevada, Reno reserves the right to hire at any level of Lecturer (I-IV) or Teaching Assistant/Associate (terminal degree candidates) that is appropriate for the hire.
ResponsibilitiesTeaching responsibilities include instruction in both introductory and advanced undergraduate courses and mentoring of undergraduate students enrolled in the Agriculture, Veterinary and Rangeland Science majors.
- Teach four undergraduate courses per academic year, including Range-Livestock Interactions, Principles of Range Management, Shrubland Ecology, and Directed Internships.
- Develop and deliver hybrid courses within the Rangeland Ecology & Management degree.
- Collaborate with AVRS faculty to develop and deliver online and hybrid courses for other majors offered within the department.
- Share departmental scheduling and manage course enrollments.
- Coordinate with the CABNR recruiter and assist in retention activities, including maintaining recruiting databases for AVRS.
- Advise undergraduate students.
- Provide general service to the department, college, and profession.
- Master’s or Ph.D. in Rangeland Ecology or a closely related field.
- Demonstrated potential for effective teaching, including experience in hybrid/online course development and delivery.
- Strong desire to mentor, recruit and retain undergraduate students interested in careers in rangeland ecology and management, animal and veterinary sciences.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work in a highly interdisciplinary department.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.
- Experience of two or more years in teaching range science-related coursework at the university level.
- Knowledge of rangelands and associated animal production systems.
Compensation grade:
Lecturer II – Teaching Assistant Professor. Salary is competitive and commensurate with related education and experience.
