Responsibilities
- Assist in the supervision and training of academic peer mentors.
- Plan and deliver two academic workshops per month to program participants.
- Assist with major department events and peer mentor socials.
- Mentor a First in the Pack roster of students.
- Data collection, evaluation, and administrative reporting.
- Represent the First‑Generation Student Center at a variety of university events including Nevada Bound, New Student Orientation Sessions, Nevada Fit, and others.
- Create social media content for the First‑Gen Center.
- Front desk reception duties as needed.
- Assist with grading for a first‑year experience course as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Enrolled as a full‑time graduate student at the University of Nevada, Reno.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to work with first‑generation undergraduate students of all backgrounds.
- Strong technology, organization, programming, and evaluation skills.
- Experience with tutoring and/or mentoring.
- Familiarity with financial aid and admissions policies.
- Academic background in Education, Counseling, Human Development, or Social Work.
20–25 hours per week. First‑Generation Student Center hours are 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, with occasional evening and weekend work.
CompensationGrade:
Student Employee Level 3 Exempt. Full‑time equivalent: 100.0%.
