Position Overview
Assistant or Associate Professor, full‑time, 12‑month, tenure‑track rank in the Department of Microbiology and Immunology, School of Medicine, University of Nevada, Reno (UNR Med).
Applicants are encouraged to focus on cancer research, biosafety, infectious disease and pathogenesis, immune response, TB immunology, microbiome research, and cytometry. The position offers the opportunity to develop the Gloria Zhang, Ph.D., and Gordon Yan, Ph.D. endowed Professorship in Immunology.
Responsibilities- Lead an independent, externally funded research program with a majority research focus.
- Teach and mentor graduate and medical students, providing first‑rate instruction.
- Engage in university, community, and professional service.
- Collaborate with clinicians and scientists at the William N. Pennington Cancer Institute and other partners.
- Ph.D., M.D., D.V.M., or equivalent, with a minimum of 2 years postdoctoral experience in basic or clinical immunology, infectious disease, or cancer research.
- Demonstrated record of securing external research support and of innovative mentorship.
- Ability to develop and maintain a cutting‑edge independent research program.
- Strong teaching skills for graduate and medical student audiences.
- Commitment to collegiality, resilience, adaptability, and innovation.
Salary ranges:
Assistant Professor – II, Associate Professor – III. Salary schedule is available at the university website. Total compensation includes a competitive negotiated salary, moving allowance (if applicable), retirement plan, health, dental, and vision insurance, life insurance, long‑term disability, annual and sick leave, plus grant‑in‑aid educational benefit for faculty and dependents.
