Job Description
Responsibilities:- Assist in the supervision and training of academic peer mentors
- Plan and deliver two academic workshops per month to program participants
- Assist with major department events and peer mentor socials
- Mentor a First in the Pack roster of students
- Data collection, evaluation, and administrative reporting
- Represent the First-Generation Student Center at a variety of university events, including Nevada Bound, New Student Orientation Sessions, Nevada Fit, etc.
- Create social media content for the First-Gen Center
- Front desk reception duties as needed
- Assist with grading for a first-year experience course as needed
- Other duties as assigned
- Enrolled as a full-time graduate student at the University of Nevada, Reno
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Ability to work with first-generation undergraduate students of all backgrounds
- Strong technology, organization, programming, and evaluation skills
- Experience with tutoring and/or mentoring
- Familiarity with financial aid and admissions policies
- An academic program in Education, Counseling, Human Development, or Social Work
Schedule
20-25 Hours/ weekly
First-Generation Student Center hours are 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, but occasional evening and weekend work may be required.
