Job Description
The University of Nevada, Reno is recruiting for a Veteran Benefits Certifying Official (VBCO). The VBCO is responsible for administering and certifying veterans’ education benefits in compliance with U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) regulations and institutional policies. This role serves as the primary liaison between the institution, student veterans and dependents, and external agencies to ensure accurate certification, timely payments, and regulatory compliance while providing high‑quality customer service to military‑affiliated students.
Responsibilities- Administer and certify veterans’ education benefits.
- Ensure compliance with VA regulations and institutional policies.
- Serve as the primary liaison between the institution, student veterans, dependents, and external agencies.
- Ensure accurate certification, timely payments, and regulatory compliance.
- Bachelor’s Degree and at least two (2) years of related work experience, or a Master’s Degree and at least one (1) year of related work experience.
- Related experience: working in higher education administration, academic advising, student services, registrar, financial aid, or an equivalent field.
