Salt Lake City is looking for Hourly Youth City Program Instructor's to provide supervision for elementary and middle school age school-age youth and the implementation of Youth City program goals.

This position will support our Youth City After school Program which will operate through the  school year. Once hired staff may select to continue employment for the 2027 Youth City summer program.

This role requires teaching in an out-of-school-time setting, program implementation, communication with program staff, data collection and developing strategies to meet and exceed all organizational goals and objectives.

The ideal candidate will have a High School graduate or equivalent and be at least 18 years of age. Experience working with school-aged children and middle school age teens, and/or other related experience is preferred.

We are hiring staff to work at all Youth City locations. Teams of Instructors report to a full-time Senior Community Programs Manager who oversees each location.

This position will work 25 hours a week. During the school year, the work hours are Monday – Thursday from 1:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. and Friday from Noon – 6:00 p.m. During the Summer Program, this position will work 5-hour blocks Monday
- Friday from 8:00 a.m.

- 1:00 p.m. or 1:00 p.m.

- 6:00 p.m. depending on program necessity.

$18.00/hr.

• Provide supervision to program participants in program activities.
• Maintain attendance records as required by program. Assist with program’s grant required assessments to ensure program quality metrics are met.
• Develop and plan weekly activities based on learning objectives as outlined by Youth City programs. Teach group activities and participate in all activities with program participants.
• Follow program procedures to safeguard health, safety, and well-being of participants.
• Prepare, clean up, and maintain facility daily.
• Assist in providing daily snacks.
• Attend weekly staff meetings and training sessions as scheduled. Participate in one‑on‑one professional development meetings with Senior Community Program Managers.
• Provide a safe/healthy environment for program participants.
• Perform all other duties requested.
• Report daily to Senior Community Programs Manager.

• High School graduate or equivalent and at least 18 years of age.
• Experience in working with school-aged children, middle school youth and/or other related experience.
• Ability to demonstrate group management skills and techniques.
• Ability to work with a diverse population, including both youth and adults.
• Ability to resolve conflict situations.
• Ability to work with both youth and adults in a non‑judgmental atmosphere.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to communicate with individuals from different social and ethnic backgrounds.

• Bilingual.

• Moderate physical activity. Required to push, pull, or lift medium weights. Uncomfortable working positions such as stooping, crouching, and bending. May have a few disagreeable elements such as exposure to outdoor weather conditions.
• Exposure to stress as a result of human behavior.
• Will be required to work on evenings and weekends.
