The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs offers a national MST training program within VHA to replenish critical technical staff. Trainees progress through a two-year development plan with coaching from a subject-matter expert and must remain at the hiring grade for at least one year.
Grandfathering provisions apply for current MSTs; foreign education may be credited and education requirements vary per the standard. Entry to GS-03/04 levels is outlined.
