Role Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Commissioning Engineer to support a hyperscale data center project in Reno, NV. This is a field-based role focused on executing mechanical commissioning activities to ensure HVAC and cooling systems are fully tested, documented, and ready for reliable, continuous operations.
This position supports fast-paced, mission-critical delivery and requires strong hands-on commissioning experience in data center or similar high-reliability environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute and support commissioning activities for mechanical systems including chillers, CRAHs/CRACs, cooling towers, pumps, hydronic piping, VFDs, and associated controls
- Lead and support functional and integrated systems testing (Level 4 / Level
5) - Review mechanical drawings, P&IDs, submittals, and sequences of operation to verify design intent
- Coordinate commissioning activities with contractors, vendors, and client teams
- Identify, track, and drive resolution of deficiencies and open items
- Support documentation, testing records, and turnover deliverables
- Maintain compliance with safety, quality, and client operational standards
- 5-10+ years of experience in mechanical commissioning, HVAC systems, or field engineering/supervision
- Strong knowledge of chilled water systems, HVAC equipment, and mechanical plant operations
- Experience supporting mission-critical or data center projects strongly preferred
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, control sequences, and testing procedures
- Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to operate in fast-paced field environments
- Willingness to be onsite daily; travel or rotational schedules may be required
