As an Electrical & Controls Engineer
, you will design, integrate, validate, and troubleshoot electrical and control systems for vehicle platforms or industrial equipment. This includes wiring harness layouts, control logic, and data communication systems (with emphasis on CAN or similar protocols), ensuring safe, reliable, and functional electrical/electronic system performance throughout the product lifecycle.
- Design electrical control systems and components for vehicles or heavy equipment, including power distribution and signal systems.
- Develop and document control system schematics, wiring harnesses, and panel layouts using CAD tools.
- Integrate electrical and electronic systems (ECUs, sensors, actuators) with vehicle control architectures.
- Conduct validation and system-level testing
, troubleshoot faults, and verify performance against specifications. - Use diagnostic tools and measurement instruments (oscilloscopes, multimeters) for system verification.
- Work with vehicle/network communication protocols such as CAN bus to manage data exchange across modules.
- Troubleshoot wiring harness issues, resolve intermittent electrical faults, and support prototype and production builds.
- Support commissioning, system debugging, and integration efforts on test rigs and vehicles.
- Write technical documentation, design specifications, test plans, and build procedures.
- Participate in design reviews and collaborate with mechanical, firmware, and manufacturing teams.
Skills & Qualifications Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related engineering field (required).
- Strong understanding of electrical systems, wiring harnesses, and embedded control design.
- Experience with vehicle electrical and electronic system integration
, including validation and troubleshooting. - Familiarity with industry communication protocols (e.g.,
CAN bus
). - Proficiency in electrical CAD tools (AutoCAD, Solid Works Electrical) and schematic capture.
- Knowledge of PLC/embedded control logic, HMI/SCADA systems, and diagnostic programming is a plus.
- Strong analytical and critical thinking.
- Excellent communication and documentation skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively across multi-disciplinary engineering teams.
- Experience in vehicle systems (automotive, industrial, heavy mobile equipment).
- Hands-on wiring harness design or installation experience.
- Knowledge of safety standards and vehicle communication networks beyond CAN (e.g., LIN, Automotive Ethernet).
- Full-time, onsite position in Reno, Nevada
. - May involve hands-on testing, field support, or prototype validation cycles.
- Successful integration and validation of electrical control systems under real conditions.
- Clear, well-organized documentation and compliance with engineering standards.
- Robust, reliable wiring harness designs with minimal field issues.
