Responsibilities
  • Testing:
    Possesses advanced skills in component and subsystem integration, data acquisition, data cleaning, statistical analysis, hypothesis testing, and measurement instrument operation. Can independently set up and operate measurement instruments, perform calibrations, and develop comprehensive test plans for complex systems, including risk assessments and resource allocation.
  • Communications:
    Proficient in handling complex communication scenarios, presentations, technical presentations, and writing tasks. Can adapt style to different audiences, use advanced software, manage challenging questions, and Excel in creating detailed technical reports and user manuals.
  • Design:
    Apply fundamental design principles, generate actuator designs, solve complex design challenges, analyze igniter performance, perform stress analysis, develop pressure vessel designs, and contribute to solid rocket motor systems. Analyze performance, incorporate advanced control systems, and develop hot gas valves and thrusters. Perform trade studies, analyze alternatives, and provide design recommendations.
  • Drafting/Modelling:
    Create intricate 2D or 3D designs, optimize productivity through CAD commands, produce precise technical drawings, interpret complex GD&T symbols, create 3D models, and generate complex assemblies and technical drawings with precision.
  • Analysis:
    Perform basic simulations using CFD software, interpret results, apply engineering judgment, carry out complex structural, dynamic, and thermal analyses, and conduct tolerance analyses. Interpret results, validate them, optimize designs, and make informed decisions. Analyze geometric features, datum reference frames, and functional tolerancing, providing recommendations for design modifications or manufacturing process improvements.
  • Systems Engineering:
    Develop program plans, understand acquisition life cycles, coordinate activities, and apply reliability and safety principles, advanced requirements analysis, risk management, leading activities, and tailored strategies.
  • Project Management:
    Possess basic financial knowledge, can lead small teams, understand operations research principles, handle procurement tasks, create simple proposals, and manage simple schedules. Effectively communicate goals and expectations, develop procurement strategies, manage vendor evaluations, analyze supplier performance, and implement contract management practices.
Requirements
  • Four to seven years of mechanical engineering experience.
  • Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or other relevant engineering disciplines from an accredited university. May consider equivalent experience in lieu of degree.
  • Must be able to travel approximately 10% of the time.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance at the appropriate level (U.S. Citizenship required).
Preferences
  • Rocket motor design and testing experience.
  • Current DoD Top Secret SCI Security Clearance.
  • Master of Science required in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or other relevant engineering disciplines from an accredited university. May consider equivalent experience in lieu of degree.
