IMEG is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer 1 to work in our Reno, NV office. The role involves leading design effort for electrical systems in buildings, acting as project manager or lead engineer for moderate to complex projects, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, and ensuring compliance with code and internal standards.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Lead design efforts for the analysis of electrical systems, utilizing engineering software and tools to create detailed designs, specifications, and calculations according to code requirements and IMEG standards.
  • Perform site assessments and generate detailed analysis and technical reports.
  • Interact with clients to understand their needs, gather project requirements, and communicate technical information effectively; build and maintain client relationships through professional communication.
  • Provide in-process design reviews of electrical system design, calculations, specifications, and project correspondence; implement IMEG quality control processes to ensure compliance with industry standards and client requirements.
  • Train, mentor, and motivate staff.
  • Provide technical assistance in resolution of field issues with limited support from senior staff.
  • Stay up to date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in electrical engineering; contribute to research, development, and innovation efforts within IMEG.
  • Prioritize safety in all aspects of engineering work; identify and mitigate potential safety risks associated with electrical systems.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including other engineers, architects, and project managers, to deliver integrated solutions that meet project goals.
  • Participate in project interviews and project presentations.
Required Skills & Abilities
  • Adept in the technical aspects of electrical engineering; advanced proficiency in circuit theory, electromagnetism, power systems, and electronics as they relate to electrical systems.
  • Knowledge of IES standards and reference material such as NFPA Link, Tech Street, MadCAD, and Facility Guideline Institution (FGI).
  • Advanced proficiency in Master Specification editing and software such as eSPECS; proficient with Adobe or Bluebeam Revu.
  • Ability to mentor, train, motivate, and lead others.
  • Ability to perform final quality control check in area of expertise.
  • Ability to sell work and develop client relationships.
  • Strong training and mentoring skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to communicate in both oral and written contexts to individuals or groups.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Attention to detail and problem‑solving skills.
  • Proficient with MS Office Suite including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Ability to travel up to 20% with occasional overnight stays.
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent, required.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) License required.
  • 7 years of experience minimum required; 8 preferred in the building design consulting industry.
Physical Requirements
  • Regularly required to sit, walk, stand, talk, see, hear, and lift objects up to 25 pounds.
  • Occasionally required to drive, kneel, stoop, crouch, crawl, reach with hands or arms, and grasp or pull.
  • Will have limited exposure to outside weather conditions and loud noises.

Salary Range: $120,000 – $140,000. Minimums and maximums may vary based on location. Individual pay will be based on several factors including experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant. Other rewards may include annual bonuses and stock ownership options.
