The EHS Construction Senior Specialist is the primary onsite EHS partner and oversight authority representing Fleet for the project reporting to the EHS Construction Manager. This role supervises the EHS Construction Specialists for both PR and SV. Developing partnerships with all levels of organizations verifying that EHS Management Systems are being adhered to and documented. The position will focus on ensuring that high-risk work is planned correctly, controlled effectively, and executed safely, especially during periods of known elevated risk such as energization, commissioning, and construction to operations handover.

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced EHS Construction Senior Specialist to provide daily oversight of EHS performance for the General Contractor and all subcontractors at our Fleet Data construction site. This critical role involves championing our top-level EHS policy, fostering a strong on-site safety culture, and ensuring implementation and verification of EHS programs, particularly High-Risk Activities. The successful candidate will be a visible leader, dedicated to preventing incidents and driving continuous improvement in safety performance.

Approximately 85% of the time will be spent in the field.

Job Responsibilities EHS Oversight & Contractor Management
  • Continuously assess with Fleet leadership the site capabilities and limitations to support peak workforce including delivering specific dashboards and metrics to ensure Fleet Construction is visible to EHS info.
  • Assessing risk associated with Simultaneous Operations (SIMOPS) daily to ensure daily planning and work execution is mitigating risks associated with the work.
  • Audit the Contractors EHS programs, orientation competency, and training matrices for high-risk employees like crane operators and electrical work.
  • Support and champion the top-level EHS policy statement, promoting a strong on-site culture where environmental, health, and safety and well-being are paramount.
  • Participate and track the implementation of High‑Risk Activities (HRAs) programs, including, but not limited to, working from heights, electrical safety, energy isolation, lifting operations, mobile equipment, material handling, confined spaces, ground disturbance, driving, temperature extremes, and noise. Carefully collected and assesses EHS metrics to ensure HRA standards are effective, and where not, ensure stakeholders take corrective action to mitigate any risks.
  • Act as the liaison between the Owner, General Contractor and subcontractors in resolving conflicts that may arise because of ambiguity, misunderstanding, or differing opinion to EHS expectations.
Contractor Compliance with High Risk Activities (HRAs)
  • Participate in Safety in Design meetings as assigned.
  • Ensure the three levels of risk assessments (program, activity, and task level) and conducted with corresponding forecasting and planning meetings are being carried out.
  • Attend HRA forecasting and planning meetings.
  • The contractors are incorporating HRAs into their project schedule.
  • Ensure the proper implementation of permit procedures and safe work plans for applicable HRAs.
  • Track that contractor communications with their workers, including sharing Lessons Learned and implementation is being done.
EHS Program Assurance
  • Ensure full compliance with all federal, state, local, and international EHS regulations (e.g., OSHA, EPA, specific country regulations).
