Test Technician

Test Technician – Reno, NV – 1 Position – Manufacturing

Legrand has an opportunity for a Test Technician to join the Data Power and Control Team in Reno, NV. The Test Technician designs, develops, implements, and maintains tests for network interface cards and subcomponents in intelligent power distribution systems. Responsibilities include configuration, calibration, quality assurance tests at all product levels, and recording and reporting test results. The role supports production testing, resolves issues promptly, creates new tests for new products, and improves existing tests to reduce error rate.

The Test Technician performs duties efficiently according to departmental and company policies and promotes a positive, professional, confidential workplace.

• Support test-related production issues.
• Work with Electrical Engineers and Project Management to determine root causes of system-level validation failures and propose solutions.
• Provide a test summary to the Engineering team of production test results, along with necessary corrective actions.
• Generate comprehensive test and validation reports.
• Participate with Engineering in creating test programs to verify performance to specification of new assemblies, peripherals, and products.
• Build test equipment to support production needs.
• Review designs for complete specifications, testability, and test margin.
• Monitor and drive process improvement associated with the production test process.
• Support international manufacturing and travel as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Education: High school diploma or GED supplemented by college-level Electronics Technician coursework;
Associates Degree in Industrial Electronics or related field preferred; or three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination.

Experience: None required.

• Basic electrical understanding/knowledge.
• Computer proficient with Microsoft Office (Word/Excel/Outlook/PowerPoint/Project).
• Self-management skills including planning, organizing, and coordinating tasks.
• Effective oral and written communication across Engineering, Technical Support, Product Management, Operations, and Sales.
• Strong attention to detail and organization/planning skills; ability to work independently.

• Ability to use electronic test equipment such as oscilloscopes, electronic loads, meters, function generators, etc.
• Experience in one or more scripting languages.
• Experience working on live high or low voltage circuits.
• Internet networking skills and protocol knowledge.
• Familiarity with ISO 9000 standards and audit process.

Fast-paced environment where priorities can shift quickly. Employees are expected to perform duties beyond primary responsibilities and multitask regularly. The role requires standing, walking, sitting, handling, reaching, climbing stairs, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and speaking or hearing. Occasionally lifting up to 25 pounds and rarely up to 40 pounds. Vision requirements include close and distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
