Role accountabilities

  • Working as a key participant in our Mining Sector Team, providing technical leadership and contributing to critical projects.
  • Applying geotechnical engineering principles to develop effective solutions for surface mining projects, including tailings facilities, open pits, and mine reclamation efforts.
  • Performing geotechnical engineering reviews and providing key input on large‑scale, complex projects across the U.S. and internationally.
  • Mentoring and developing mid‑level and junior staff, fostering a collaborative and high‑performing team environment.
  • Supporting business development by identifying and pursuing growth opportunities with existing and new clients.
  • Acting as or becoming the Engineer of Record on appropriate projects, ensuring technical excellence and compliance.

This role provides a dynamic mix of feasibility studies, design, construction quality assurance, and client engagement, offering opportunities for professional growth and leadership within the mining sector. The position may involve up to 25% travel to client sites and meetings, both within North America.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) is required.

Qualifications & Experience Required
  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, geotechnical engineering, or a closely related field.
  • Minimum of 10 years of geotechnical engineering experience.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred
  • Master’s degree in civil engineering, geotechnical engineering, or a closely related field.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license.
  • Experience with Autodesk Civil3D, ArcGISPro, and geotechnical modeling software (e.g., Geo Studio, FLAC, PLAXIS).
  • Expertise in mine slope stability analysis, tailings dam design and siting, and soft‑ground mechanics.

Salary range: $97,600 – $146,400. Actual salaries will vary based on experience, education, budget, internal equity, project and location.
