Position: Staff Geologist

Position

Arcadis is seeking an Environmental Geologist to join our Resilience Environment team in Reno, NV. This role blends field work (25–40%) with office tasks, providing hands‑on experience and professional growth.

Role Responsibilities

As part of this role, you will assist Project Managers in planning and executing baseline surveys, permitting, data evaluations, regulatory compliance, environmental site characterization, investigation, and remediation tasks. Responsibilities include both office and field work, with field work performed at project sites involving soil, sediment, groundwater, and surface water media. You will plan, coordinate, and oversee various scopes of work such as drilling for soil sampling and groundwater well installation, groundwater sampling, and subcontractor oversight.

The work will require a strong focus on health and safety.

  • Collaborate with engineering disciplines, hydrologists, and geologists on project work
  • Participate in all aspects of permitting, site investigation, and remediation projects
  • Communicate and work closely with project teams, clients, and regulatory agencies
  • Perform fieldwork including drilling oversight for soil sampling and/or groundwater well installation, groundwater sampling, or subcontractor oversight
  • Assist with writing and preparing technical reports, work plans, letters, and memoranda
  • Conduct project‑related research (historical data, regulations, etc.)
  • Prepare periodic status/program reports
  • Analyze and interpret field data
  • Utilize basic software skills such as Leapfrog and ArcGIS
Qualifications & Experience
  • Bachelor’s of Science in Geology, Hydrogeology, or a closely related field (e.g., environmental science, physical science)
  • At least 5 years of relevant experience
  • Current OSHA 40‑hour HAZWOPER training (preferred)
  • MSHA 24‑hour Surface Miner certification (preferred)
