Senior Geotechnical Engineer – Reno and/or Carson City, NV
We are seeking a seasoned geotechnical professional to join our growing team in the Reno, NV area. As we continue to expand, we are looking for a Senior Geotechnical Engineer to play a key role in supporting and leading our efforts on large, multi‑year projects.
Salary Range: $ to $ annually
This position is responsible for evaluating subsurface conditions and providing geotechnical engineering support for a variety of construction and infrastructure projects. The ideal candidate will analyze soil, rock, and groundwater conditions to support the design of foundations, earthworks, and other geotechnical systems that ensure the stability and safety of structures.
Duties- Project management:
Lead geotechnical projects from proposal through completion. - Technical leadership:
Plan and direct subsurface investigations and perform advanced analyses. - Engineering oversight:
Lead preparation and review of geotechnical reports and calculations, serving as Engineer of Record. - Construction & collaboration:
Provide support during construction and work closely with internal teams, clients, and contractors. - Business & team development:
Prepare proposals, build client relationships, mentor staff. - Financial oversight:
Track invoicing, accounts receivable, and project risks.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering (geotechnical emphasis) or Geotechnical Engineering.
- 7+ years of geotechnical engineering experience.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license in the U.S. required and ability to obtain licensure in Nevada within a reasonable timeframe.
- Strong technical expertise with geotechnical analysis methods, software, and sound engineering judgment.
- Effective communicator with the ability to collaborate across disciplines.
- Ensure work complies with applicable codes, standards and regulations.
- Manage professional liability and project risk.
