Electrical Project Engineer
IMEG is hiring an Electrical Project Engineer in Idaho Falls, ;
Sacramento, CA; or Reno, NV. In this role, you will lead design efforts for low to moderate complexity projects and collaborate with senior staff on larger, high-complexity projects.
You'll work closely with engineers and consultants to deliver innovative electrical engineering solutions for building systems, ensuring projects meet client expectations and industry standards.
Principal Responsibilities
- Lead design efforts for electrical systems, utilizing engineering software and tools to create detailed designs, specifications, and calculations according to code requirements and IMEG standards.
- Interact with clients to understand needs, gather project requirements, and communicate technical information effectively.
- Support project execution as part of a team; lead project planning, budgeting, and scheduling to meet deadlines and objectives.
- Document design decisions and client instructions while monitoring project progress and budget.
- Analyze engineering problems and propose innovative solutions in collaboration with senior engineers and consultants.
- Provide in-process design reviews and implement IMEG quality control processes to ensure compliance with standards and client requirements.
- Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in electrical engineering; contribute to research and innovation.
- Prioritize safety in all engineering work and identify potential safety risks.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver integrated solutions.
- Identify potential project problems and seek guidance from the Project Manager.
- Oversee projects through bidding and construction administration phases.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent required
- Professional Engineer (PE) License required
- 2 years of experience minimum required, 4 preferred, in the building design consulting industry
- Proficiency in design techniques, tools, and concepts involved in the production of technical plans and specifications
- Strong technical and analytical skills including knowledge of principles relating to circuit theory, electromagnetism, power systems, and electronics as they relate to electrical systems design for buildings
- Proficient with industry standard engineering software and tools including lighting photometric calculation software such as AGI, Elum Tools, Visual Lighting, or other; power system analysis and design software such as SKM/PTW, Easy Power, or other; and energy compliance software such as Com Check. Proficient with Adobe or Bluebeam Revu
- Knowledge of Illumination Engineering Society (IES) Standards
- Proficient with the use of reference material resources such as NFPA Link, Tech Street, MadCAD, and Facility Guideline Institution (FGI)
- Knowledge of Master Specification editing and software such as eSPECS, Building Information Model software, and CTC Revit Add In Tools;
Proficiency of Smart Engineering Design Assist (SET) Tools within Revit for electrical calculations, coordination, properties, etc. - Ability to train and mentor less experienced staff
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
Ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groups - Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
- Attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- Proficient with MS Office Suite including but not limited to Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Ability to travel up to 10% with occasional overnight stays
