Position OverviewThe Environmental Engineer I supports environmental planning, design, and compliance efforts for various types of projects. This role works under close supervision to assist with technical analyses, fieldwork, and documentation.
Responsibilities- Assist with environmental site assessments, permitting, and compliance tasks
- Perform field environmental sampling (soil, groundwater, surface water, air) and data collection
- Support preparation of technical work plans and reports, permit applications, and environmental documentation (e.g., NEPA-related documents, SWPPP, SPCC)
- Conduct basic engineering calculations and analyses
- Coordinate with internal teams (civil, geotechnical, construction)
- Ensure adherence to environmental regulations and safety standards
- Maintain accurate field notes and project records
- Other duties as assigned
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering or related engineering field
- 0–2 years of relevant experience (internships included)
- Basic understanding of federal/state environmental regulations
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- EIT (Engineer-in-Training) certification or ability to obtain
- Familiarity with GIS, AutoCAD, or environmental modeling tools
- Fieldwork experience
This position requires travel (20% - 50%) as part of its primary responsibilities.
Physical Demands & Work Environment- Combination of office and fieldwork
- Ability to travel to project sites and perform outdoor work in varying conditions
