Role Description The Staff Engineer – Water/Wastewater role is a full-time, on-site position based in Reno, NV. This role involves supporting the planning, design, and analysis of municipal and private water and wastewater infrastructure projects. Typical responsibilities include preparing engineering calculations, developing plans and specifications, assisting with hydraulic modeling, and performing technical report writing. The Staff Engineer will coordinate with project managers and senior engineers, participate in field investigations, support permitting and regulatory compliance, and assist with construction administration activities such as submittal review and site visits.

The role also includes collaborating with clients and stakeholders, maintaining project documentation, and contributing to quality assurance and continuous improvement efforts.

Qualifications

  • Technical engineering skills in water and wastewater systems, including hydraulic analysis, pipeline and facility design, and understanding of treatment processes.
  • Proficiency with engineering software and tools, such as CAD platforms, hydraulic modeling programs, and standard office applications.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking abilities to address complex infrastructure and operational challenges.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills for reports, specifications, client correspondence, and interdisciplinary coordination.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment, manage multiple tasks, and meet project schedules and budgets.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field; EIT certification required and eligibility or intent to obtain PE licensure in Nevada and/or California is a plus.
  • Knowledge of relevant codes, standards, and regulatory requirements for water and wastewater projects; experience with public infrastructure projects is desirable.
  • Valid driver’s license and willingness to conduct occasional fieldwork and site visits as needed.
