SUMMARY
The Director of Cage Operations leads all cage and credit activities to ensure cash, credit, and guest financial transactions are handled accurately, securely, and in compliance with gaming regulations. This role oversees daily cage operations, cash levels, kiosks, and credit functions—including applications, markers, and collections—while ensuring strong internal controls and regulatory compliance. The Director coaches and develops the cage team, supports exceptional guest service, and partners closely with Finance, regulatory agencies, banks, and external service providers to keep operations running smoothly and efficiently.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESPrimary duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Create an atmosphere that encourages guests to make Grand Sierra Resort and Casino their choice for gaming entertainment; responsible to actively build and retain guest relations, and act as a mentor to team members in order to provide superior guest service.
- Coordinate adequate guest service and operational coverage by managing schedules to business levels.
- Manage cash levels for guest and revenue needs while ensuring all kiosks (hardware and software) are operational with optimal guest experience.
- Understand and train team on marketing and database promotions for guest service including new card sign-ups.
- Responsible for all credit functions including managing the application process, approvals/denials, verification of credit worthiness, credit verification to compliance standards, and managing markers and collections; all in adherence to MICS.
- Monitor the quality of daily work performed by department team members to ensure completeness and compliance with policies and procedures.
- Perform the duties of a supervisor/manager in their absence, up to a lower level of authorization.
- Safeguard department assets.
- Manage relations with banks, armored car service, Central Credit, and other agencies including regulatory.
- Handle guest correspondence regarding credit applications.
- Hires, trains, coaches and counsels the Cage leadership team.
- Attend and participate in meetings, completing follow-ups as assigned.
- Any other duties as assigned within the scope of this position.
- Extensive knowledge of gaming industry regulations in regards to both cage functions and credit functions.
- Ability of complex reading, writing, math, and task completion skills is required.
- Must have the following skills: following instructions, influencing others, memorization, problem solving, supervision, independent judgment, and decision making.
- Flexible to work all shifts including holidays, nights, and weekend hours as business needs dictate.
- Must be a minimum of 21 years of age.
- 5+ years’ experience in cage and credit with at least 3 years in a supervisory capacity, or any combination of education, training, or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
- Bachelor degree in Finance, Business Management, or Gaming/Hospitality Industry is preferred.
- Must be able to maintain appropriate Gaming License & Alcohol Awareness card.
- While performing the duties of this job, the team member is frequently sitting, occasionally standing, walking, reaching overhead, and bending over during the duration of their shift.
- Must be able to lift/carry 10lbs or less occasionally.
- The team member will constantly have repetitive use of both feet and hands and require occasional light and firm/strong grasping motions. Finger dexterity of both hands will be constantly required.
- Constant use of vision abilities is required including distance, depth perception, field of vision, and color vision.
