Nutritional Health Coach

Overview

USD $24.00/hr this role requires an outgoing personality and a passion for sharing nutrition knowledge and inspiring people to act and achieve their health goals. You’ll wear many hats while working in a fast‑paced retail setting conducting classes, private coaching sessions, community outreach, and retail operations such as customer service, stocking shelves, and cleaning. As the store’s nutrition professional, you will act as an educational resource providing science‑based nutrition education/training to the store crew, customers, and the community, supporting Natural Grocers’ mission to improve health and wellbeing.

• Acts as the nutrition education resource for customers, crew, and the community.
• Provides customer service in the vitamin aisles (assists with product purchasing and provides educational resources).
• Performs retail operations: stocking, facing, checking product expiration dates, cleaning, and merchandising.
• Maintains customer literature files, book department, and the Crew Wellness Board.
• Offers in‑store nutrition and recipe demonstration classes and outreach nutrition classes.
• Provides regular trainings to crew and motivates crew to participate in employee nutrition programs.
• Responds to questions and reviews summaries.
• Provides private one‑on‑one health coaching sessions.
• Builds community relationships (practitioner partners, guest presenters, event partners).
• Seeks outreach opportunities to build brand awareness.
• Maintains continuing education requirements, reads and reviews research, completes CE assignments.
• Assists management with coordinating, organizing, and executing company‑wide events.
• Prints materials used in classes, outreach, and coaching sessions; places orders for nutrition education supplies.
• Provides training to crew on promoting NHC services, in‑store events, and promotions.
• Attends monthly meetings (NHC webinar, regional and sales building calls).
• Acts as an event ambassador for in‑store guest presenter classes during floor days.

• Carry out necessary administrative tasks related to training and promotion.

• A degree or certification in nutrition or a related field (e.g., dietetics, Bachelor of Science or Master of Biology, Biochemistry, Naturopathy).
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook).
• Excellent public‑speaking skills and confidence in front of an audience providing cooking demonstrations and nutrition education classes.
• Ability to engage customers and promote events, services, and sales.
• Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and priority‑management skills.
• Self‑directed and able to maximize time management.
• Team‑player who accepts constructive feedback.
• Motivated to grow and develop knowledge and skills.
• Inspired to provide nutrition education to crew, customers, and the community.
• Comfortable working in a retail environment performing stocking, facing, checking expiration dates, and cleaning.

• If the degree or certification requires continuing education to maintain, those requirements must be fulfilled.
• If not, a minimum of 16 continuing education hours (or two CE units) per year is required.
