Tax Analyst

Robert Half Contract Finance and Accounting is seeking a degreed Accountant for a Tax Analyst opportunity in Reno, NV. This role is well‑suited for someone with strong quantitative skills, heavy Excel capability, and the ability to manage numerous individual filings and deadlines. You will join a small, high-performing team. This position plays a key part in preparing premium tax filings, assessment filings, and related accounting activities.

The team values sharp reasoning skills, diligence, and accuracy.

Key Responsibilities:

+ Prepare periodic premium tax and assessment filings, supported by complex calculations and formulas in Excel

+ Gather, analyze, and synthesize data from multiple systems; maintain organized schedules and work papers

+ Manage an individual compliance calendar and track numerous filing deadlines

+ Perform general ledger entries and reconciliations

+ Assist with federal, state, and local income tax compliance

+ Support quarterly and annual income tax provisions (GAAP & STAT), deferred tax calculations, account reconciliations, and return‑to‑provision adjustments

+ Support continuous improvement of departmental processes and procedures

Requirements

+ Bachelor's degree in Accounting (required)

+ Attention to detail - accuracy is essential

+ Diligence and quantitative reasoning ability

+ Strong Excel proficiency: formulas, functions, calculations, and tracking

+

Experience with general ledger work and accounting workflows

+ Ability to manage multiple deadlines and organize numerous individual filings

+ Quick learner who adapts well to complex, evolving requirements

+ Comfort working independently and digging into regulations

+

Experience with public accounting, or corporate tax is a plus (not required)
