Position Overview

Budget Analyst / Senior Budget Analyst – Planning, Budget and Analysis (PBA) Office, University of Nevada, Reno.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct budget/accounting review, perform reconciliations, and complete detailed financial analyses.
  • Prepare comprehensive financial reports and contribute to local and state budget development.
  • Monitor assigned budgets throughout the fiscal year to maintain department and fund balances within resource limits.
  • Record revenues and expenditures accurately, ensuring compliance with institutional and regulatory requirements.
  • Assist with position management and provide data‑driven insights for planning and decision‑making.
  • Develop and balance state appropriated annual operating budgets and non‑appropriated institutional self‑supporting budgets of significant size and complexity.
  • Serve as lead or subject‑matter expert on divisional special projects and maintain specialty functions.
  • Work independently on highly complex or strategic assignments.
Qualifications
  • Budget Analyst – Bachelor’s degree plus 2 years related experience; or Master’s degree plus 1 year related experience. Experience required in budgeting or financial management, including preparation, analysis, and presentation of financial data to management.
  • Senior Budget Analyst – Bachelor’s degree plus 4 years related experience; or Master’s degree plus 2 years related experience. Experience required in a large public‑sector environment (e.g., university, state budget office, or similar) with preparation, analysis, and presentation of financial data to senior management and external organizations.
Compensation

Grade B (Budget Analyst) and Grade C (Senior Budget Analyst). Salary range: $60,000–$102,589. Salary is competitive and commensurate with education, experience, and institutional equity.
