The Field Mortgage Consultant
The Field Mortgage Consultant is responsible for originating mortgage loans for eligible borrowers in the state of Nevada and developing business through effective outside sales. The candidate must maintain a mortgage agent license through the State of Nevada Mortgage Lending Division and Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System.
What You’ll Be Doing- Utilize knowledge of mortgage products and programs to guide and educate clients on the home‑buying process.
- Originate mortgage loans for members and non‑members of the credit union.
- Produce an appropriate amount of high‑quality work as defined by the Production Schedule and performance standards.
- Take loan applications, conduct preliminary underwriting reviews, and submit applications to processing and underwriting for approval.
- Collect required documentation (income, assets, credit, disclosures).
- Pre‑qualify and pre‑approve borrowers based on credit, income, and assets.
- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure seamless and timely loan processing.
- Develop and execute a personal business plan to achieve performance standards.
- Participate in community events and marketing activities.
- Build and maintain long‑term client and referral relationships (realtors, builders, CPAs, etc.).
- Active and current NMLS License in good standing.
- 1–2 years of experience in sales or sales‑support roles within the mortgage industry.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Strong knowledge of mortgage industry regulations, including RESPA, ECOA, HMDA, Truth‑In‑Lending, FCRA, HVCC, ECOA, and SAFE Act.
- Work independently to organize and prioritize tasks, manage time to meet deadlines, analyze requests, understand issues, and develop appropriate solutions.
- Identify, analyze, and solve problems effectively.
- Maintain a high level of attention to detail when performing job functions.
- Keep up‑to‑date knowledge of procedures and reporting guidelines.
- Apply statutory and regulatory compliance matters appropriately.
- Communicate clearly and concisely verbally, in writing, and during presentations.
- Read, comprehend, and explain applicable documentation accurately.
- Proficiently utilize computer and relevant software for this position.
- Accurately perform basic arithmetic operations and calculations.
- Regularly sit and use a keyboard, multiple monitors, mouse, and telephone for extended periods of time.
- Occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
The position is located in the Greater Nevada Mortgage offices in Reno, Sparks, or Carson City, or may be remote within those locations.
Compensation & Benefits- Commission‑only with incentive plans.
