About the Role

  • Accountable for prospecting new business and working with Client Solution Managers to deepen client relationships.
  • Maintains a “trusted advisor” role, engaging in dialogue with Executive-level client contacts to assess holistic banking needs and provide customized banking insights and solutions.
  • Drives financial performance through profitable revenue and growth and quality credit.
  • Supports a portfolio of mid-size middle‑market clients with $25million or more in annual revenue.
  • Identifies, attracts and secures new Middle Market relationships to grow the bank’s Commercial & Industrial market share.
  • Achieves individual production goals for loans, deposits and core fee income.
  • Serves as the client “expert” and champions business development efforts by developing a clear and holistic understanding of the client’s or prospect’s business and industry.
  • Performs client reviews to ensure relevant solutions are provided as clients grow and adapt.
  • Develops focused strategies for acquiring, retaining and growing select clients and maximizes an established referral network.
  • Proactively prospects for new clients and identifies ways to expand existing relationships in collaboration with Client Solutions Managers and internal partners.
  • Identifies opportunities and partners to structure, coordinate, and sponsor credit and non‑credit solutions.
  • Assembles and leads a cross‑functional team to respond quickly to customer requests and identified needs.
  • Utilizes a team of experts to present the full breadth of the bank.
  • Maintains an active prospecting effort and pipeline for consistent production.
  • Studies middle‑market industrial, economic, and financial situations to support prudent business development and portfolio management.
  • Demonstrates compliance with all bank regulations and applies to designated job responsibilities.
  • Follows bank policies and compliance regulations, and completes all required annual or job‑specific training.
  • Maintains knowledge of regulations such as the Bank Secrecy Act, Regulation CC, Regulation E, and others applicable to this role.
  • May coach, mentor, or train others and teach coursework as subject‑matter expert.
  • Actively learns, fosters the Columbia corporate culture, and takes personal initiative.
  • Embraces the vision to become the “Business Bank of Choice”.
  • May perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • 7–10years of relevant commercial banking experience and/or a proven track record of exceeding performance in developing business in the commercial industry (Required).
  • Less than 2years serving Middle Market clients with $15million+ annual revenue (Preferred).
  • Proven success in developing new business, growing market share, and building a quality supportive network.
  • Experience in relationship‑management teams with an understanding of balancing business development and asset quality.
  • Advanced credit acumen—including accounting, financial statement analysis, and operational cash‑flow assessment—to support complex deals.
  • Working knowledge of the bank’s systems and policies applicable to underwriting and portfolio management.
  • Superior client‑relationship skills and internal‑partnering capabilities.
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office and the ability to learn new business software.
  • Experience with syndications, asset‑based lending, capital‑structure finance, leveraged lending, trade finance, and/or other specialty lending (as applicable).
  • Proficiency in negotiation and collaboration with Senior Credit Officers on credit terms and structures.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
  • Advanced knowledge of Middle Market lending policies, procedures, practices, and documentation.
  • Ability to train and present to small and large audiences.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
Compensation

The pay range for this role is $135,000–$. The pay rate is dependent upon non‑discriminatory factors including, but not limited to, job‑related knowledge, skills, experience, education, and geographic location. The role may be eligible for performance‑based incentive compensation, with details provided during the recruitment process.
