Position Purpose

Under the general direction of the manager, the incumbent is responsible for overseeing the daily operation of the Imaging Department, the staff, performing diagnostic, therapeutic, and interventional procedures, and actively participate as a member of the Imaging team.

Nature and Scope

The incumbent provides imaging services to neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients and families. Demonstrating the ability to work with patient needs including physical, motor/sensory adaptation, cognitive, and psychosocial needs; meets standards of quality as measured by Unit/Department age specific competency standards.

Competently operates imaging equipment and related machinery. Verifies and executes physician orders for diagnostic, therapeutic, and interventional exams, ensures proper preparation for such exams, and the safety and wellbeing of patients during procedures. Other duties include, but are not limited to, billing, supplies stocking, file maintenance, medical charting, informed consent documentation, quality improvement studies, and patient history/symptoms acquisition. Determines the best method of obtaining optimal examinations while ensuring patient safety;

regulates patient flow, consults with radiologists and cardiologists to determine contrast media and makes necessary corrections to improve image quality. May be required to assist other modalities within the department or Renown Health.

The position is responsible for coordination of daily workflow of the staff and providing for appropriate QC monitoring as specified in the evaluation section of the job description.

The incumbent acts as a liaison between the staff and the Manager, Director of Imaging, Radiologists and Cardiologists, medical staff, and the Administration of Renown Health.

The incumbent will help to develop policy and procedure for the Imaging Department. The incumbent will be responsible for providing the staff with current information regarding policy and procedure, disaster plans, fire and safety regulations, etc.

The incumbent will ensure that all staff are afforded scheduled time to maintain current competencies.

The incumbent will assist the manager with scheduling of staff, orientation of new employees, supply inventory and ordering, scheduling for emergency repair of imaging equipment, participation in Quality Improvement process, and staff developmental in-services.

Major challenges to this position relate to staying current with changes in radiology and cardiology, managing and coordinating the imaging department on a daily basis, and providing strategic planning input for the department's future direction.

It is common to encounter potential hazards in the healthcare environment including Radiation, Toxic Chemicals, Biological Hazards, Heat, Noise, Dust and Stress. Renown Health has a Safety Management Program addressing these issues.

This position does provide patient care.

Minimum Qualifications

Education
:

  • Must have working-level knowledge of the English language, including reading, writing and speaking English. Applicants with Bachelor degree preferred but not required.

Experience
:

  • Requires a minimum of two years of imaging or nursing experience.
  • Cardiac Interventional Radiography (CI) and Vascular Interventional (VI) preferred: 200266, 200255.

Licenses
:

  • Registration with ARRT (MR) or ARMRIT: 200256, 209256
  • Registration with ARRT (R) and State of Nevada license for Medical Radiography: 200251, 200255, 209255, 209259, 400251
  • Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCT/RCIS/RCS) or American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (RDMS/RVT/RDCS) in Adult or Pediatric echocardiography and/or Vascular Technology: 200267, 200268
  • ARDMS RDMS/RVT/RDCS applicable: 200252
  • ARRT (R)(CT) and State of Nevada license for Medical Radiography: 200253, 400253
  • State of Nevada Registered Nurse license or ARRT (R) or RCIS, or NV license for Medical Radiography: 200266

Certifications
:

  • Current BLS certification by The American Heart Association at time of hire
  • ACLS and PALS required within 6 months of hire for specified roles (see job notes: 200255 and 200266)

Computer / Typing
:

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, Word) and able to use computer for online learning, policies, forms, and benefits enrollment.
