This entry level position for the Reno Fire Department involves firefighting, life saving, response to emergency and other incidents, fire prevention, equipment operation and maintenance, facility maintenance, work and skill readiness, and related tasks.
The Reno Fire Department is finalizing plans for a Spring Firefighter Academy, tentatively scheduled to begin in April.

- Respond to fires and other emergency or public assistance incidents in a timely, safe, and skilled manner and participate in control through hose laying, ladder operations, ventilation, extinguishment, salvage and other team activities.
- Rescue individuals endangered by fires or hazards and administer first aid to injured parties when assigned.
- Conduct fire inspections and other fire prevention tasks, including fire safety education to reduce fire hazards and enforce fire codes.
- Develop and maintain high levels of knowledge and skills for duties through training, drills, and skill maintenance programs.
- Operate and maintain firefighting and related equipment and apparatus safely and efficiently.
- Keep fire stations and facilities clean, orderly, and usable.
- Assist in completing day-to-day work such as record keeping and map maintenance.
- Perform public information and relations tasks as assigned through written or oral communication.
- Maintain an adequate level of physical fitness to perform firefighting, rescue, equipment operation, and related tasks.
- May perform relief work as a Fire Equipment Operator when qualified and assigned.
Candidates must be at least 18 years of age at the time of appointment.
Training and LicensesTraining: Graduation from high school or equivalent
License/Certificate:
- Valid driver's license.
- Valid Nevada Emergency Medical Technician certification or National Registry Emergency Medical Technician certification.
