Position

This full‑time CVOR Scrub Tech position at Sierra Medical Center is 40 hours per week, offers full benefits and a convenient flexible schedule. The successful candidate will assist surgeons during operative and invasive procedures in the Operating Room and Pain Center, ensure the operating suite is adequately prepared, monitor PAR levels of all surgical instruments and pain management supplies, clean and sterilize all surgical instruments used in the OR and Pain Center, and participate in departmental staff meetings and performance improvement activities.

Job Duties / Responsibilities
  • Prepare the room in a timely manner with all anticipated instruments, sutures, supplies, and equipment for each surgical procedure, or all anticipated endoscopes, instruments, supplies, and equipment for each procedure.
  • Accurately complete operating room counts (instruments, sponges, sharps); follow proper procedure in the event of an incorrect count; report all discrepancies to the Circulating RN and surgeon and/or correct immediately.
  • Carry out medical/surgical asepsis during treatments/procedures.
  • Set up, scrub, and prepare for procedures at least 15 minutes prior to scheduled time, unless otherwise directed by Circulating RN, Charge Nurse or Director.

Qualifications
  • Minimum high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Surgical technician certification required (within 6 months of hire) or verifiable hospital surgical tech experience prior to 1/1/2018.
  • 3–5 years of experience preferred.
  • Current BLS certification.
