Position Purpose
Under the direction of the facility leader, this position is responsible for ensuring that the facility is operating efficiently. Certified Senior Medical Assistant working in a Medical Home and/or medical group setting will be an integral part of the patient’s care team. They will work within the healthcare team, working together to achieve top‑quality outcomes and deliver optimal patient‑centered care. This position is required to room patients, track and coordinate test results, educate patients, and assist with closing care gaps.
This position will be a resource and provide education to other medical assistants within the medical group on multiple topics, including but not limited to medical assistant workflow, back‑office processes, and point‑of‑care testing. This position may float to various sites within the health system.
Responsibilities include:
- Training staff and supporting staff development and quality assurance
- Assisting the provider in back‑office duties such as escorting patients to the examination room, taking vital signs, maintaining examination room stock, documenting patient communications, preparing lab specimens, completing referral forms, and scheduling tests
- Managing phone calls, filing into patient charts, and administering treatments and medications per provider order in accordance with established policies
- Ensuring compliance with medical group standards for delivery and quality of care within assigned location(s) and promoting teamwork
- Supporting manager in daily duties including competency and quality assurance activities
- Developing and maintaining positive working relationships with other departments, physicians, and outside agencies
- Interacting professionally and diplomatically with patients of all ages, their families, physicians, office staff, and other healthcare providers in the accurate collection of demographic, clinical, and financial information in person or via telephone interviews
- Providing direct patient care

Minimum Qualifications- Education: Must have working‑level knowledge of the English language, including reading, writing, and speaking English. Graduation from Medical Assistant school preferred.
- Experience: Requires 2 years of experience in a clinical health care position with minimum 1 year as a medical assistant. Requires ability to perform basic math skills.
- License(s): Current State of Nevada license for Office Laboratory Assistant or Certified Laboratory Assistant; an application must be submitted within 90 days of employment (excludes specific department codes).
- Certification(s): Current AHA BLS required within 90 days. Some positions may require DOT and Non‑DOT drug testing certifications at time of hire. Ability to obtain and maintain one of the following certifications is required at time of hire:
- Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) – NHA
- Clinical Medical Assistant Certification (CMAC) – AMCA
- Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) – AAMA
- National Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) – NCCT
- Nationally Registered Certified Medical Assistant (NRCMA) – NAHP
- Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) – AMT or AAH
- National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT)
- State of Nevada EMT certification – advanced or paramedic
- Computer / Typing: Must possess or be able to obtain within 90 days the computer skills necessary to complete online learning requirements for job‑specific competencies, access online forms and policies, complete online benefits enrollment, etc.
